Job summary

Alberta Health Services in Edmonton Rural Corridor is actively recruiting a Family Medicine Physician to provide locum coverage for the Killam community. This 6-month term may extend, with two pathways: full-scope locum or continuing care only, including on-call coverage as needed.

Applicants must hold licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and ACLS certification; recent broad practice experience is required, with CCFP or CCFP-EM credentials desirable.

Qualifications

• ACLS certification or equivalent is required.
• Recent and relevant experience in Family Medicine is expected.
• CCFP or CCFP-EM credentials are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Obtain and maintain AHS Medical Staff Appointment and privileges.
• Provide call assistance per schedules, including ED call duties as required.
• Follow AHS bylaws, rules, and policies.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives within Family Medicine.
• Engage in CME activities and administrative responsibilities as assigned.
• Collaborate with peers and care team to support patient care.

Alberta Health Services, Edmonton Rural Corridor, is actively recruiting a Family Medicine Physician to provide locum coverage for the community of Killam. Seeking 6 month term with option to extend.

Option 1: Full scope locum: Emergency Room coverage, management of acute care patients, long term care patients and community clinic.

Option 2: Continuing Care only: Assume a patient of continuing care patients and sharing in the on-call schedule (off-site) for this site.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Obtain and maintain an AHS Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges to provide the Services;
• Provide call assistance as per call schedules, including full time participation in the Emergency Department call schedule, as required;
• Abide by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws, the AHS Medical Staff Rules and AHS policies;
• Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives undertaken within the Department of Family Medicine;
• Participate in relevant Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs;
• Contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities, as assigned;
• Work collaboratively with peers and care team colleagues in support of patient care
• Have or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (required with application);
• Recent and relevant experiencein all areas of practice required, as the sole provider;

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS);

Desired Qualifications:

• Certificate of the College of Family Physicians (CCFP);
• Certificate of the College of Family Physicians (CCFP) Emergency Medicine
