Job summary

BMO Financial Group is seeking a senior legal professional in Canada with 7+ years of relevant experience and a paralegal certification or equivalent degree. The role provides independent legal support, reporting, and risk mitigation in a fast-paced environment.

You will deliver reports, manage data, handle subpoenas with counsel, and contribute to strategic initiatives alongside internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provides legal services, works independently and with litigation counsel to prevent litigation and mitigate risks.
• Prepares and produces reports and dashboards; assists with regular reporting, including case status.
• Handles orders and subpoenas in collaboration with litigation counsel; manages document collection and review.
• Develops requirements and materials for meetings; supports strategic initiatives with stakeholders.
• Maintains data integrity in management systems and ensures data is up-to-date.
• Works independently to deliver timely, accurate, and efficient service and support.

Job description

Provides legal services, works independently and in collaboration with litigation counsel to prevent litigation and mitigate legal, regulatory and reputational risks. Works in a fast-paced, deadline-sensitive environment with continual reprioritization. Manages or participates in projects, maintains timelines and prepares reports and presentations. Acts as a trusted advisor to assigned business. Recommends solutions based on analysis of issues and legal, regulatory and reputational risks. Identifies emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making. Supports the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Prepares and produces reports and dashboards. Breaks down strategic problems; analyzes data and information to provide insights and recommendations. Gathers data; maintains/updates information in management systems and ensures data integrity. Reviews and updates guidelines, procedures and policies. Conducts case research using various research tools. Prepares, drafts and revises legal documents and reports. Handles orders and subpoenas in collaboration with internal and external litigation counsel, including document collection and review. Develops requirements and materials for the facilitation of meetings. Assists with regular reporting, including of case status, and prepares related presentation material. Handles sensitive/confidential information while minimizing legal risk. Executes work independently to deliver timely, accurate and efficient service and support. Provides specialized consulting, analytical and technical support. Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules. Works independently and regularly handles non-routine situations. Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Salary and Compensation

Salary: $70,000.00 - $150,000.00 Pay Type: Salaried The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type. Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position. BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
