Job summary

A regional educational services organization in Powell River is seeking a Legal Administrative Assistant specializing in Litigation and Family law. This full-time position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a BC law firm. Responsibilities include preparing court forms, scheduling hearings, managing legal files, and providing comprehensive support to the legal team. The ideal candidate will possess excellent skills in MS Office and legal software, along with strong communication and attention to detail.

Location: Powell River/qathet Regional District

Salary Or Wage: $25.00 to $30.00 per hour

Job Type: Full Time

List of Requirements
  • A minimum of 3 years of family or litigation law experience working in a BC law firm or legal department. This is not an entry-level position.
  • Excellent skills in MS Office Suite and an online legal software systems
  • Legal Administrative Assistant or Paralegal certificate from an accredited institution, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with clients, lawyers and staff as well as the ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters professionally
  • Ability to handle a high volume of work in a fast-paced environment and to work independently and in a team environment
List of Duties
  • Assist with preparation of court forms and pleadings and file documentation.
  • Schedule hearings, discoveries, trials, and mediations; liaise with counsel.
  • Assemble records and binders for court appearances.
  • Conduct online searches (Court Services Online, BCOnline, Land Title Office).
  • Manage legal files (opening/closing), handle client calls and perform administrative tasks.
  • Draft and respond to correspondence.
  • We are looking for a Litigation and Family Legal Administrative Assistant to provide support for the Litigation and Family Department.
