Job summary

FortisBC in Kelowna, BC, is seeking a Powerline Technician. This full-time regular role requires a Journeyman Powerline Technician Interprovincial Certificate or a Lineman Trades Qualification Certificate. The position reports to a staff supervisor and involves standby duties and field work.

Responsibilities include standby duties, assisting training of apprentices and employees in lower classifications, and performing duties normally carried out by a lower classification.

Qualifications

• Holder of a Journeyman Powerline Technician Interprovincial Certificate or a Lineman Trades Qualification Certificate.
• Familiar with electric utility transmission and distribution systems, protective devices, clearances, and isolation procedures.
• Holder of a valid Class 3 driver’s licence with air brake endorsement.

Position Overview

A Powerline Technician is expected to discharge the responsibility of and to practice fully his/her trades qualifications. A Powerline Technician reports to a staff supervisor or delegate.

• Assist in training new employees, apprentices and employees in lower classifications.
• Perform duties normally carried out by a lower classification.

Requirements

• Holder of a Journeyman Powerline Technician Interprovincial Certificate or a Lineman Trades Qualification Certificate.
