Job description

Join the Operations Team and play a key role in keeping Cypress Mountain moving! This hands‑on leadership role is ideal for a skilled Millwright who takes pride in maintaining safe, reliable, and high‑performing Lift and Amusement Ride Systems. The Lift Maintenance Supervisor oversees installation, preventative and corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting — ensuring every project is completed efficiently, cost‑effectively, and in full compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

This role also supports the development and delivery of training programs for Lift Mechanics (Millwrights and Apprentices), promoting best practices that minimize downtime and enhance reliability. Collaboration is at the heart of this position – working closely with departments across the mountain to maintain open communication, strong teamwork, and the highest standards of safety and reliability. Together, helping to create a seamless, unforgettable experience for every guest on the mountain.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (included but not limited to the following)
  • Supervise daily maintenance and repair activities for all aerial, surface lifts and amusement devices.
  • Support a strong safety culture through safety meetings, hazard assessments, and safety training.
  • Lead and ensure timely completion of all required documentation (maintenance logs, government forms, training, PM records).
  • Provide input for maintenance budgets, costs, and departmental metrics.
  • Assist with department maintenance planning, execution and supervision of the preventative maintenance program for the lift and amusement ride system including submissions to the AHJ’s for all required documentation.
  • Track equipment usage and maintain accurate inventory of equipment.
  • Analyze maintenance costs and make recommendations for equipment utilization and replacement.
  • Assist in developing and executing team member training plans.
  • Assist with department performance reviews of team members and determining areas of development for training requirements.
  • Complete special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES
  • Excellent time management, organizational, and multitasking skills in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal, teambuilding, and written/verbal communication skills, in English.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Electrical, welding and hydraulic experience preferred.
  • Well‑organized, punctual, self‑motivated, and engaged in team meetings.
  • Advanced mechanical and diagnostic skills on lift systems, including hydraulics and controls.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of the CSA‑Z98 code.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
  • Skilled in testing/troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electromechanical systems.
  • Comfortable working at heights and outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs and work shifts, holidays, and overtime as required.
  • Works effectively both independently and as part of a team.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Interprovincial Qualified Millwright – Red Seal, 5 years lift mechanic experience required.
  • Completed Lift 151, 152, 153 or willing to complete in 6 months.
  • 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Must be able to legally work in Canada.
  • Driver’s license and reliable transportation with winter tires, to get to/from the mountain.
  • Any applicable safety training is an asset (i.e. WHMIS, Fall protection).
