Job summary

Amica Stoney Creek is seeking a Life Enrichment Coordinator for a 12-month temporary full-time assignment. The role oversees all programming in the community for residents, and supervises staff and volunteers to deliver engaging activities and wellness experiences.

The position requires a degree in Gerontology or related field, geriatric programming experience, and current CPR/First Aid, with strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Gerontology or related field.
  • Experience in geriatric programming.
  • Knowledge of exercise effects on aging.
  • CPR and First Aid certification current.
  • Smart Serve/Serving it Right and Food Handler/Safe certifications.

Responsibilities

Temporary Full Time


12 Month Contract


Amica embraces pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and offers a competitive total compensation package designed to reward performance.
Expected Salary Range: $49,000 - $62,000
Maximum Bonus Potential: 5% of base pay, that rewards exceptional performance.

Vacation: Generous annual vacation entitlement, aligned with company policy.
Compensation is determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications. Candidates whose experience surpasses the expectations for this role may be eligible for compensation above the advertised range.

A day in the life of a Life Enrichment Coordinator

As the Life Enrichment Coordinator, you are responsible for allprogramming in the Community. You will take an innovative hands-on approach in facilitating dynamic opportunities and experiences for our community members. This position supervises the Life Enrichment Assistant(s), as well as supervising and coordinating the Volunteer Program.


How do I qualify?

You must have:



  • A degree/diploma in Gerontology, Kinesiology, Therapeutic Recreation, Leisure Studies, Activation, Recreation, Sociology or Psychology or a related discipline (ie. Personal Training, Group Fitness Instructor etc).

  • Educationand/or experience in geriatric programming in a related setting.

  • Knowledge of the effects of exercise on age related changes; able to develop and implement exercise programs.

  • Knowledge of adaptations and modifications to programming to benefit individuals with cognitive, physical and sensory impairments.

  • Strong computer skills including knowledge of Word, Publisher, Excel and theInternet.

  • Current certificate in CPR and First Aid.

  • Current Smart Serve/Serving it Right and Food Handlers/Food Safe Certifications

  • Ability tomeet the physical demands of the position including lifting, portering, and leading multiple fitness programs throughout the day.

  • Valid driver’s license and/or special class license (or willingness and ability to obtain).

  • Familiarity with community resources is considered an asset.

  • Familiarity with the provincial Occupational Health and Safety Act.

  • Experience anda passion for inspiring and motivating adults to lead a healthy, holistic lifestyle.

  • Creative, enthusiastic approach to program development and special event design.
