Job description
Overview

As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

The GPRH Obstetrics Department consists of a single room maternity care model with 22 rooms: 18 Labour, Delivery and Recovery rooms; 4 private antepartum/postpartum rooms; 5-bed assessment/OB triage area. We have our own OR and Recovery area embedded in the unit. We care for patients who are low to high risk during the antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum periods, including patients requiring C-sections. The 5-bed assessment/OB triage area is embedded in the unit where we provide outpatient care and assessment of pregnant women from 20 weeks gestation to delivery. When the unit census allows, we also provide care for off-service patients. We value providing high quality, effective, efficient, evidence-based, patient-centered care for all of our pregnant, labouring, postpartum, newborn and perinatal loss patients. We strive to build an environment that empowers our patients and families through education and support through the life change that is pregnancy and childbirth, while also encouraging our staff to continuously learn and grow. By joining the GPRH Obstetrical team, you will challenge and build your nursing, interpersonal, coaching, teaching, multitasking and assessment skills through care of patients whose condition changes rapidly through the antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum process.
