Job summary

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to support the Medical Clinical Resource Team at Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, BC. The LPN will perform full scope nursing functions within a designated specialty area, under general supervision, and in alignment with BCCNM standards and an interdisciplinary care model.

Roles include assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting client care, with opportunities to grow clinical competence and mentor

Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized program for Practical Nurses.
• Current practicing registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse with BCCNM.
• Ability to work both independently and within an interdisciplinary team.

Job description

Come work as a Licensed Practical Nurse with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) on the Medical Clinical Resource team at Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, BC!

Practices within the context of a client and family centred care model and in accordance with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses. Working independently and collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team, performs full scope of practical nursing functions for clients with predictable outcomes within a designated area of specialty. This includes activities such as assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting client care, and providing support to clients and their families. Working collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary care team and under general supervision, supports the Registered Nurse in caring for clients with unpredictable outcomes or where the acuity or complexity of care requires an advanced level of knowledge and skill beyond the scope of practice for Licensed Practical Nurses. Maintains and advances clinical competence pursuant to the standards of practice of BCCNM for Licenced Practical Nurses.

About The Medical Clinical Resource Team

The Clinical Resource Team (CRT) plays a vital role in the provision of nursing services to a wide range of patient populations across the acute medical patient care programs at Vancouver General Hospital. It is comprised of LPNs whose shifts are assigned to a variety of clinical units to meet appropriate staffing requirements and organizational needs as they arise. CRT staff are valued members of VCH and respond to needs based on patient acuity, replacement for vacancies and other operational needs. Members of the CRT perform a full range of professional duties and provide high quality care to patients. All new CRT team members are set up for success and go through an on-site orientation program, led by experienced health care professionals and educators. The CRT provides opportunities to grow your skills and expertise and prides itself on growing and mentoring our nurses.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks.
