Job description

ARC provides a full range of fertility services including investigations, surgery, IUI, IVF, ICSI, pre-implantation genetic testing, egg/sperm freezing, and early prenatal support. We pride ourselves in one-on-one patient care and work with our patients to provide an individualized, unique care plan. Our staff and our patients come first!

We are located on the West End of Edmonton, conveniently just off the Anthony Henday.

Reporting to the Nursing Manager, the Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for caring for the patients coming into the ARC facility including tasks like creating and maintaining accurate patient records, assisting with fertility procedures, recording vital signs, and reporting symptoms and changes in patient conditions.

Responsibilities & Duties
  • Updating patient records in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) including sending reminders to patients
  • Addressing patient inquiries via phone, email and EMR
  • Draw patient blood for testing
  • Prepare all patient paperwork and requisitions as needed
  • Assist Nurses
  • Assist with procedures as required including egg retrievals and embryo transfers
  • Obtain, monitor and record vital signs during procedures
  • Follow-up with patients consent forms as required
  • Superb documentation of all patient interactions
  • Indirect patient care activities including cleaning recovery bays in between patients, replenishing clinical supplies in procedure and examination rooms, and perform required daily and monthly equipment and safety checks as required by clinic policy
  • Maintaining the utmost confidentiality with all patients and fellow employees
  • Abide by and follow ARC’s policies and procedures
Qualification & Licensures
  • Certified Licensed Practical Nurse
  • 1 year experience in a fertility centre is an asset
  • BLS (required) and ACLS (preferred) certification
  • Licensure and good standing with the College for Alberta's Licensed Practical Nurses (CLPNA)
  • IV initiation skills required
  • Completed phlebotomy course or is prepared to do so
