Job summary

Alberta Health Services’ Boyle Health Centre seeks a confident Licensed Practical Nurse to join a small hospital with ER and acute care units. You will deliver patient-centred care, assist with triage, stabilization, and urgent care in ER, and manage assessments, meds, wound care, IV therapy, and patient education in a resource-limited setting.

You will work with limited staff across areas, require two years of recent emergency/critical care bedside experience, and hold ACLS/CTAS.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program.
• Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
• Two years of bedside nursing experience in emergency or critical care within the last four years.
• ACLS and CTAS certifications.
• Preferred TNCC, ENPEP and FERN certifications; Connect Care training.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient-centred care in both ER and acute care settings.
• Assist with stabilization, triage, and urgent care in ER.
• Perform assessments, administer medications, wound care, and IV therapy where permitted.
• Ensure documentation, infection control, and patient safety standards.

There is limited staff at this site, and you will be required to work in multiple areas. The successful candidate will need at least two years of bedside nursing experience in emergency or critical care medicine within the last four years. The following current certifications are also required: Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS).

Preferred Qualifications

Completion of Current certification: Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), Emergency Nursing Provincial Education Program (ENPEP) oy Fundamentals of Rural Emergency Nursing (FERN). Training in Connect Care.
