Job description

Your Opportunity: Alberta Health Services (AHS) has an exciting opportunity for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in a part-time position supporting Coronation; located in the heart of east central Alberta. This position is located in a rural setting where the LPN will work within a multidisciplinary team to provide patient-focused nursing care in acute and emergency environments; this is suitable for candidates with a minimum of two years nursing experience. Relevant advanced certifications and professional development opportunities are available to successful candidates. Coronation has a population of around 1000 residents and serves the surrounding counties. Coronation is a sports-minded community with active programs in hockey, baseball, softball, adult group fitness, swimming lessons, and aquacise offered at the local recreational facilities. Other programs offered in the communities include music and cadets with a school that serves Kindergarten to Grade 12. This rural community is quiet and affordable - great place to raise a family or to spend your retirement.

Description: As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level, and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family-centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications

Additional Required Qualifications

To be successful, you will have good communication skills, strong critical thinking skills, and the ability to work independently and to maintain effective interpersonal relationships. You need to have competence in relevant technical nursing skills and a willingness to learn new skills as required, with demonstrated ongoing responsibility for maintaining own continuing competence through professional development activities.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with the following skills preferred: Post graduate certification in Infusion Therapy and Medication Administration. Wound Care and Physical Assessment skills. Applicant must be knowledgeable in meeting the needs of surgical, medical, and continuing care populations.
