A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join the team at Olds Hospital and Care Centre. The successful candidate will perform varied nursing duties, demonstrate strong communication and problem-solving skills, and provide patient-centered care. Candidates must be registered with CLPNA and have at least one year of recent acute care experience. This part-time role offers flexible shifts and competitive pay.
Your Opportunity: As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Olds hospital and Care Centre, you will perform a broad scope of LPN duties in accordance with Alberta health Services Policies and nursing care standards. You will work with patients and an inter-professional team in the medical / Surgical and obstetrics whilst demonstrating a professional, positive attitude; and excellent communication, problem solving and inter-professional skills.
Olds residents benefit from the close proximity to big city amenities while also being able to enjoy a wide variety of recreational facilities and amenities within the town, such as the Aquatic Centre for swimming, Sportplex for skating. Olds is situated along the Highway 2 corridor between Red Deer (63km) and Calgary (95km) with a population of 8,944. Municipal Library. Olds is a very short distance from the Foothills Mountains, great for any outdoor enthusiasts.
Description: As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, demonstrated skill level and AHS policies and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
Minimum one year experience, in the past two years, in an acute care or emergency department setting at full scope of practice. Ability to perform and document physical assessments, ability to administer medications within the acute care setting. Critical thinking skills, clinical judgement and problem solving. Ability to work as an effective team member, to accept and request direction as required. Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Basic computer skills and strong knowledge and experience using Netcare and Connect Care.
Recent experience with obstetrical patients and / or newborn babies. Wound care education, foot care course, NRP, CAM B. Lead II, Palliative care courses, Non-Violent Crisis intervention, RACE, Completed Indigenous Awareness, N95, It's Your Move.
