Job summary

A financial services firm is seeking an experienced Licensed Insolvency Trustee for a full-time in-person position in Mississauga. Responsibilities include managing bankruptcy engagements, supervising staff, conducting assessments, and preparing Court documents. The ideal candidate must be a Fully Licensed Insolvency Trustee with excellent knowledge of insolvency laws and strong organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years within consumer insolvency firm.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and ensure client satisfaction.
  • Able to navigate through issues and provide effective solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage consumer bankruptcy and proposal engagements post‑filing.
  • Assist in supervising and training staff.
  • Conduct debtor assessments and oversee administration of insolvency estates.
  • Chair meetings of creditors and communicate with all stakeholders.
  • Prepare Court reports and documents when required.

Job Description / Duties

Main Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage consumer bankruptcy and proposal engagements (post‑filing)
  • Assist in supervising and training staff, delegate tasks and projects as required
  • Provide advice on current bankruptcy laws and practices, conduct debtor assessments, oversee administration of insolvency estates, manage more complicated insolvency estates
  • Provide assessment of debtors when required by Debt Solutions Managers
  • Perform initial meetings and sign‑up meetings, when required
  • Chair meetings of creditors and negotiate with creditors as applicable
  • Communicate effectively with debtors, creditors, the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy and the Courts through creditor meetings, reports, attendance at Court, etc.
  • Prepare or assist in preparing all Court reports and documents. Attend Court when required
  • Assist with managing court files, including taxation of fees
  • Other duties as assigned or required
Qualifications / Required Skills

Qualifications:

  • Fully Licensed Insolvency Trustee (minimum 5 years within consumer insolvency firm)
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of insolvency rules, laws, and procedures
  • Effective multi‑tasking skills and able to manage competing priorities to ensure deadlines are met and client satisfaction is achieved
  • Detail oriented and logical, able to navigate through issues and provide effective solutions to problems or issues
  • Flexibility on working hours as some evening work may be required
  • Willingness to travel to assist in the coverage of satellite offices, when required
