GENERAL FUNCTION

The Assistant Manager acts as a leader in the absence of, or in support of, the Store Manager. They behave as a business owner within the marketplace and Clearly organization, representing Clearly as the premier vision destination and delivering key performance metrics.

MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Achieve or exceed KPIs such as sales, conversion rate, customer count, store profitability, care continuity, exam growth, retention, and Net Promoter Score.
  • Understand retail business operations, market trends, and competition, applying this knowledge to improve sales and results.
  • Support the store manager in diagnosing business issues and leveraging retail, lab, and doctor synergies.
  • Assist in developing store business plans to maximize sales and profits.
  • Partner with the store manager to lead and train the team, providing timely feedback and support.
  • Participate in recruiting efforts and help build a talent pipeline.
  • Ensure store appearance aligns with visual directives and maintains a positive relationship with doctors.
  • Ensure team compliance with company policies and procedures, meeting all goals.
  • Proactively identify and address potential problems, seeking long-term solutions.
  • Perform administrative duties and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  • With a valid state opticianry license, provide expert optical services, including lens recommendations, eyewear adjustments/repairs, and digital measurements.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid state/provincial opticianry license
  • At least 1 year of management or supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of retail operations and policies
  • Strong math skills and familiarity with cash registers and computers
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • High selling ability and problem-solving skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • College degree or equivalent
  • Leadership experience in retail or customer service
  • Knowledge of optics and store merchandise
  • Additional certifications such as ABO or Brand Final Inspector
