General Function

The Assistant Manager acts as a leader in the absence of or in support of the Store Manager, behaving as a business owner within the marketplace and For Eyes organization. Represents For Eyes as the premier destination for all vision needs and delivers key performance metrics.

Major Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Delivers quality and improvement to meet or exceed all KPIs.
  2. Understands retail business and transfers knowledge to improve sales and results. Monitors competition and market trends.
  3. Supports the store manager in diagnosing the business and leveraging Retail, Lab, and Doctor synergies to drive results.
  4. Supports store business plans to maximize sales and profit, addressing opportunities for recovery.
  5. Partners with the store manager to lead and train the team.
  6. Provides training, guidance, and constructive feedback to team members.
  7. Informs the store manager of any issues requiring development or disciplinary action.
  8. Supports recruiting and talent pipeline creation.
  9. Follows staffing guidelines to ensure optimal store coverage.
  10. Maintains store appearance and visual standards.
  11. Builds positive relationships with doctors.
  12. Ensures team compliance with company policies and procedures, meeting or exceeding goals.
  13. Proactively identifies and resolves problems, exploring root causes for long-term solutions.
  14. Performs administrative duties and maintains a safe work environment.
  15. Works flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
  16. With a valid state Opticianry license, provides expertise on lens choices, adjusts and repairs eyewear, presents and dispenses eyewear, and performs digital measurements.
Basic Qualifications
  1. High School diploma or equivalent
  2. Current and valid state Opticianry license
  3. At least 1 year of management or supervisory experience with direct reports
  4. Knowledge of retail operations, processes, and policies
  5. Strong basic math skills
  6. Familiarity with POS systems, computers, and calculators
  7. Excellent command of English for communication
  8. Strong communication and listening skills
  9. High-level selling skills
  10. Proven problem-solving ability
Preferred Qualifications
  1. College degree or equivalent
  2. Leadership experience in retail and customer service
  3. Knowledge of basic optics
  4. Knowledge of current store merchandise
