Job summary

Brock University is seeking a Library Systems Analyst to advance, configure, and integrate Library enterprise solutions, supporting data analytics and system integrations to meet the library's strategic goals.

You will oversee operations of the Library Services Platform, configure systems, and collaborate with developers and end users to deliver reliable, secure solutions. Candidates should have library IT experience, strong programming knowledge, and excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma and experience with analysis and support of library IT business processes.
  • Familiarity with the services and business practices of academic libraries.
  • Experience administering library enterprise software (preference for modern library services platforms).
  • Knowledge of current and emerging library systems (i.e., MARC, BIBFRAME, OpenURL, XML, Linked Data and RDF, OAI-PMH, SIP2 and Z39.50).
  • Experience querying, manipulating and transforming large quantities of library data using APIs, scripting, and specialized applications.
  • Understanding of object oriented and database programming languages (i.e., SQL, Web Services, XML, XSLT, Java, PHP, Python, Model-View-Controller) and other integration technologies.
  • Strong understanding of web scripting technologies (i.e., HTML, CSS, and Javascript);
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Proven ability to negotiate solutions and effectively implement them; and
  • Strong analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the technical aspects of the Library Services Platform (i.e., configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, training, and resolving issues).
  • Configure library systems and associated processes to enhance and streamline systems.
  • Provide development specifications for library systems and integrate them with existing University systems.
  • Provide maintenance support for library systems and web development.
  • Identify library system problems and work with developers and end users to resolve them.
  • Implement library application solutions that are reliable and secure.
  • Test and provide quality assurance measures with developers and stakeholders.
  • Analyze and implement robust data management procedures by integrating third-party software solutions.
  • Complete all work tickets, use tracking software to provide a maintenance record for all changes, and share information with colleagues.
  • Serve as the lead analyst for small projects and enhancements of library system solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to developmental policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Ensure usability and acceptance of software applications and systems by developing a strong understanding of customer practices.
  • Maintain a broad knowledge of state-of-the- technology, software, and development methodologies.

About the Role:

Reporting to the Head of Library Systems & Technologies, the Library Systems Analyst advances, configures, and integrates Library enterprise solutions using systems analysis design, implementation, development, software solution support skills, and understanding of Library requirements. You will enhance and streamline library systems, provide data and analytic solutions, configure library systems and business processes, and develop integrations into existing and third-party systems to support the library's strategic goals. You will also be responsible for resolving complex problems and providing comprehensive recommendations and solutions.

The Library Systems Analyst will:

  • Experience with ExLibris, Omeka, RESTful Web APIs using XML or JSON, Docker;
  • Experience troubleshooting in Linux and Windowsenvironments;
  • Understanding of accessibility requirements (AODA);
  • Understanding of software development life cycle methodologies;
  • Experience with financial, human resources, and Student Information software;
  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend large and complex systems;
  • Relevant courses in project management, enterprise or business, or information architecture; and
  • Relevantcoursesincurrentdevelopmenttools.
Salary and Total Rewards:

Job Grade K, Salary Scale ($62,115-99,384); Target Hiring Salary: $62,500*
