Job summary

Canada Post is seeking a temporary on-call delivery agent in Sydney, Nova Scotia. You will start at the depot to sort and prepare deliveries, then load a Canada Post vehicle and deliver mail and parcels to customers on your route. This outdoor role spans all weather conditions and offers opportunities for future permanent employment.

English essential (French optional). Pay is $25.37 per hour with on-call scheduling and training provided.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a clean driving record (3+ years).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lb (22.7 kg) and carry up to 35 lb regularly.
• Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
• Willingness to be on-call and serve all of CBRM.
• English and/or French literacy (read, write, speak).

Responsibilities

• Start day in depot sorting and preparing deliveries.
• Load and drive a Canada Post vehicle.
• Deliver mail and packages on route by foot or vehicle.
• Return to depot to unload incoming mail.

Job Responsibilities

What will you do?

• You’ll start your day in the depot, sorting and preparing the day’s deliveries
• You’ll load and drive a Canada Post postal vehicle

• You’ll then spend most of your day outside, delivering mail and packages by foot or by vehicle to customers on your route
• You’ll return to the depot to unload the day’s incoming mail and packages for later delivery

Qualifications

What must you have?

• A valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a safe driving record for at least 3 years (driver's abstract required)
• The physical ability to lift mail items weighing up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry items weighing up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) regularly throughout the day
• The ability to work in all types of weather
• The availability to be on-call and work in all of CBRM
• The ability to read, write and speak English and/or French
