Job summary

Canada Post is seeking a temporary, on-call Delivery Agent (Letter Carrier) in Port-Cartier, Quebec. You’ll be the face of Canada Post in your community, delivering mail and parcels to customers and businesses on your route.

The role is outdoor, year-round, requires a valid driver’s licence, ability to lift up to 50 lb, read/write/speak English and/or French, and availability to be on-call Monday to Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. Starting wage is $23.81 per hour.

Qualifications

• Valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a clean record.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lb (22.7 kg) regularly.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Availability to be on-call.

Responsibilities

• Sort and prepare deliveries at the depot.
• Load and drive a Canada Post postal vehicle.
• Deliver mail and parcels on route by foot or vehicle.
• Return to the depot to unload and prepare for the next day.

Job Responsibilities

What will you do?

• You’ll start your day in the depot, sorting and preparing the day’s deliveries
• You’ll load and drive a Canada Post postal vehicle

• You’ll then spend most of your day outside, delivering mail and packages by foot or by vehicle to customers on your route
• You’ll return to the depot to unload the day’s incoming mail and packages for later delivery

Qualifications

What must you have?

• A valid Class 5 or Class G driver’s licence with a safe driving record for at least 3 years (driver's abstract required)
• The physical ability to lift mail items weighing up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) and carry items weighing up to 15.9 kg (35 lb) regularly throughout the day
• The ability to work in all types of weather
• The availability to be on-call
• The ability to read, write and speak English and/or French

The walking distance can be 20-25 km, regardless of weather conditions (stairs, snow, rain, sun, etc.)
