Job summary

Alto is seeking a Legal Counsel, Transactions to support the Legal Affairs department on the High-Speed Rail project connecting Quebec City and Toronto. You will report to the Vice President, Legal Affairs, and collaborate with the Legal Affairs, Transactions group.

You will draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements and procurement documents, advise on procurement strategies and trade compliance, and support regulatory and governance matters with practical risk mitigation.

Qualifications

• 4 to 6 years of relevant experience in a law firm, in-house legal department, or a combination thereof.
• Experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements and procurement documents.
• Experience advising on procurement matters, including trade agreement compliance, is an asset.
• Bilingualism in French and English is an important asset in this role.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal advice for the High-Speed Rail project, including PDA and related amendments and procurement agreements.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts for goods, services, technology and licensing.
• Support procurement strategies, regulatory and governance matters, and prepare briefing notes for management.
• Oversee legal aspects of assigned files and mitigate legal risks with practical solutions.
• Conduct research on specific legal, regulatory and commercial issues.
