The Mission of the legal department is to advise protect and enforce EBCs rights throughout the life cycle of a project : from business development to proposals from execution to servicing built projects.

By joining EBC Legal Affairs you will join a young and dynamic team at the heart of operations and risk management which supports management in its decisions. You will be called upon to interact with a wide variety of stakeholders within a growing company but always focused on its values. EBCs legal affairs team includes 9 lawyers and 2 engineers mainly located in the Montreal Brossard and Quebec offices.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the supervision of the Legal Director Contractual Affairs the Legal Counsel will be responsible for coordinating with Western Canadian leaders all contractual aspects of partnerships and contracts in the Ottawa Mississauga and Vancouver this capacity he will be called upon to work in collaboration with other members of the legal department directly with the different divisions and senior management of the company in order to provide varied legal and strategic services on the various EBC projects. As part of his duties the principal legal advisor will be called upon to perform the following tasks in particular :

  • Support and advise project teams during project execution in order to properly protect EBCs rights in its contractual management of customer contracts and subcontracting contracts;
  • Write partnership agreements construction contracts subcontracting contracts and other legal documents;
  • Assist commercial teams in negotiating agreements with clients partners subcontractors and suppliers;
  • Study submission documents and identify legal risks of projects ;
  • Support internal process improvement projects ;
  • Collaborate closely with EBCs very large project teams particularly for all aspects of contractual management and / or complaints;
  • Advise the companys management on the companys strategic issues.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor of Laws ;
  • Member in good standing of the bar of Ontario and / or a Canadian province ;
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience;
  • Experience in commercial contract or corporate law;
  • Experience in construction law financing infrastructure projects corporate financing and / or mergers and acquisitions (asset) ;
  • Excellent command of English spoken and written ;
  • Occasional mobility across the country ;
  • Fluency in French (important asset).
