As a Legal Counsel on the Specialized Transactions and Products team, part of the Financial Markets division at National Bank, you will act as an expert advisor in the sector, ensuring that business practices for structured products comply with Canadian regulations. Your knowledge of the securities regulatory framework and your diligence will positively impact our organization.

Your job
  • Participate in all stages of the development and marketing of structured products
  • Draft prospectuses and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including taxation and accounting
  • Issue legal opinions
  • Ensure compliance of business practices for structured products with Canadian regulations
  • Analyze and review legal reports and documents to safeguard the Bank's interests
  • Make recommendations on product marketing and development to manage risks
Your team
  • You will work with lawyers and paralegals on the Specialized Transactions and Products team, reporting to the Manager. The team is known for its efficiency, expertise, and creativity, collaborating daily with financial engineers structuring financial products.
  • Personalized training and access to diverse colleagues will support your ongoing development.
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in law and membership with the Barreau du Québec (1-3 years)
  • Knowledge of securities regulation and corporate law
  • Understanding of the financial markets system and interest in the field
  • Experience drafting commercial agreements
  • Knowledge of Canadian securities registration and compliance requirements
Languages

English and French are required to communicate with service providers and partners speaking different languages.
