Qualifications

The Legal Affairs sector, specializing in commercial law at Agropur Cooperative, acts as a trusted partner to the organization’s various business units. What this role entails

As part of their responsibilities, the Legal Counsel will notably:

  • Participate in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various types of commercial contracts, including distribution, manufacturing, supply, service, purchase or sale, licensing agreements, real estate leases, confidentiality agreements, etc.;
  • Provide legal advice and opinions on various matters related to the cooperative’s activities, including applicable legislation and regulations;
  • Handle and follow up on various litigation files, either internally or in collaboration with external counsel;
  • Participate in identifying risks and developing legal solutions for special projects;
  • Collaborate with other members of the Legal Affairs team to organize support for internal business units and improve processes (including precedent management and automation); and
  • Perform any other related legal tasks connected to the cooperative’s activities.

  • Salary scale 006: $95,900 to $119,900 (Base salary will be determined based on your academic background, experience, training, and skills related to the position.)
What you need to join our team
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in law;
  • Be a member of the Quebec Bar and/or another Canadian province or a U.S. state;
  • Have at least 5 years of relevant experience in commercial law gained in a law firm and/or a corporate legal department;
  • Bilingual in French and English (spoken and written);
  • Ability to work as part of a team;
  • Capacity to manage multiple files simultaneously;
  • Experience in investment (CAPEX) and construction projects will be considered an asset;
  • Excellent command of Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Ability to work with new technologies.
