The Legal and Compliance Manager will assist/support the Director, Legal and Senior Counsel with various contract, privacy, risk management, compliance, and legal administration that support our clients growing lines of business. The position requires independent decision making and the ability to work well with internal and external stakeholders. The role will manage licensing and insurance portfolios as well as support process improvement and risk management throughout the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES
Critical duties that the incumbent is expected to perform
- Legal Operations, Administration, and Support
- Draft correspondence and simple legal agreements (NDAs, templated agreements, etc.)
- Organize and maintain contracts and corporate records within established electronic databases
- Collaborate cross functionally across all areas of the business
- Maintain and update templates and departmental protocols
- Communicate with external stakeholders, represent the organization to customers, patients, the public, government, and other external bodies
- Provide general administrative support to the Director, Senior Counsel
- Privacy, Compliance & Risk Management
- Coordinate investigations, reporting and administration of nationwide privacy compliance program
- Triage and fulfil records requests in accordance with privacy laws
- Analyze and mitigate risk
- Manage insurance policies, renewals, and certificates
- Administer claims and liaise with insurance adjusters and external legal counsel on behalf of the business
- Gather and maintain documentation related to legal claims and regulatory matters
- Advise internal business partners on compliance requirements for vendor and client contracts
- Licensing
- Support business leaders with advice to secure business licenses and / or certifications, as / if required.
- Provide effective support to Logistics Department in regard to license registrations, vehicle accident claims, insurance, sale and buyout transactions, disposal of vehicles, liaison with Ministry of Transportation, Brokerages and Leasing Companies across country.
KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Knowledge, educational requirements, and relative experience required to perform the job
- Bachelors degree or relevant professional diploma
- Certifications in privacy, claims management, paralegal or law clerk an asset
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Technical and social process skills required to perform the job

- Ability to learn and navigate internal information and tracking systems (e.g. Contract Management software, Occurrence Management, LIS)
- Health privacy experience or credentials an asset
- Paralegal, law clerk, contract management, or claims management experience an asset

- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally, oral and written, with parties of all levels of sophistication and experience
- Ability to work collaboratively cross functionally
