St. Michael’s Hospital – one of the sites of Unity Health Toronto – is a fully‑affiliated University of Toronto teaching and research institution. In conjunction with the University of Toronto, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry, St. Michael’s Hospital is recruiting for a Consultation Liaison Psychiatrist to join the Mental Health and Addictions Service to provide Consultation Liaison (CL) psychiatry care. The successful candidate will have an academic position description of Clinician‑Teacher and must be eligible for a full‑time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2026, but negotiable.

St. Michael’s Hospital is located in the heart of downtown Toronto and serves a diverse community, often caring for the most vulnerable and marginalized individuals. Health care services for people who use drugs is an integral part of the work in the Mental Health and Addictions Service and across the hospital.

Qualifications
  • Medical Degree
  • Certification in Psychiatry by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or eligibility
  • Independent licensure in Ontario or eligibility
  • Exemplary clinical skills and ability to work in an active interdisciplinary clinical environment
  • Dedication to the highest quality of patient care
Responsibilities
  • Provide CL psychiatry care on inpatient CL inpatient service and CL psychiatry outpatient care, including dedicated mental health services for a general CL outpatient clinic.
  • Participate in the Urgent Care Program under the Ambulatory Psychiatry Division.
  • Provide Psychiatry on‑call service as part of full‑time clinical responsibilities.
  • Educational responsibilities: clinical supervision, overseeing exams, teaching seminars and participating in educational requirements that are part of the University of Toronto’s Undergraduate Medical Education and Postgraduate Medical Education curricula.
  • Engage in academic activities and research excellence, supporting the Department of Psychiatry’s tradition in integration of clinical, teaching and research.

Remuneration will be based on fees for service, available sessional and stipends and the Academic Trust Fund. Applications will be reviewed until December 12, 2025, after which the posting will close.
