The Department of Psychiatry, Temerty Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Department of Psychiatry of the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre are seeking to recruit an Academic Youth Psychiatrist. The successful candidate will qualify for an academic position as a Clinician-Teacher or Clinician-Educator and must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer, or preferably Assistant, Associate or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. Anticipated start date is as soon as March 1, 2026, or as determined in discussions with the candidate.

Responsibilities
  • Provide youth psychiatry services alongside a multi-disciplinary team, with a focus on delivering excellent clinical care for complex mood and anxiety disorders.
  • Work in a variety of settings, including the youth inpatient unit (on average, managing 2-4 adolescent youth beds at any given time).
  • Participate in urgent outpatient assessments and develop new outpatient services and programs (including collaborative care) to build capacity and optimize urgent care assessment pathways.
  • Engage in research opportunities and dissemination, particularly projects aligned with divisional priorities around quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
  • MD degree; Royal College/Board Certified or Royal College/Board Eligible in Psychiatry; eligible for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
  • Preferred: eligible for a FRCPC in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry or equivalent.
  • Track record of excellence in teaching given the frequent presence of learners on the team.
Compensation and Additional Details

Compensation will be based on protected academic time commensurate with the candidate’s academic experience and expertise plus a fee-for-service structure, with additional funding through Academic and Educational Trust Funds and/or Departmentally-sanctioned administrative roles.
