Position Summary

As a Learning and Development Specialist you will support the development and implementation of high quality technical training courses and programs to drive AST employee competence in sterilization processing and regulatory compliance at all levels of the organization.

What You'll do as a Learning and Development Specialist
  • With guidance, develop and maintain the training material library and/or STERISU to include course offerings and training event schedules; and provide library materials upon employee's requests.
  • Assist in the review of available and newly developed training materials to ensure continued appropriateness including technical and compliance updates. Once a training topic is assigned, assist with Learner needs assessments and project coordination with subject matter experts for material development and delivery.
  • With direction, utilize educationally sound strategies to design and develop curricula and instructional materials including agendas, exercises, and other materials for self-paced interactive, mobile learning, and blended learning formats.
  • Utilize appropriate tools and software to transfer knowledge into mobile learning methodology.
  • Assist with the development of specialized training and certification programs for key positions such as machine operators, measurement system technicians, planners and schedulers, and technical staff.
  • Assist in the development of clear, concise and technically correct work instructions and training systems.
  • Engage with STERIS Learning and Development staff to understand and follow best practices and learning management system processes.
  • Assist with the development of process improvements based on best in class training principles.
  • Increase professional skills, knowledge and abilities by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and participating in professional societies.
  • Contribute to a team effort by performing according to the guidelines outlined in the STERIS Code of Business Conduct, the GMP and other directives; support the directives and decisions of higher level management.
  • Communicate in an effective manner by utilizing accepted business practices in a courteous and professional manner providing timely and accurate responses and service oriented offers of assistance.
  • Support the business imperatives of Growth, Operational Excellence, Leadership Excellence and Customer Focus, by acting with integrity, treating everyone with mutual respect, exhibiting a genuine commitment to the success of all employees, and delivering satisfaction to our customers through teamwork, innovation and continuous improvement; this will be accomplished while acting safely and is defined as "The STERIS Way."

The Experience, Skills and Abilities Needed

Required:

  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in Instructional Design, Human Resources, or science-related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years experience accepted in lieu of Bachelors degree.

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of ISO Quality Systems and/or regulated environment experience preferred.
  • Experience in writing content for corporate communications preferred.
  • Experience with LMS operation preferred.
  • Experience with e-learning authoring tool such as Captivate, Storyline, Rise or related software highly desired.
  • Ability to effectively read, write and verbally communicate in English; bi-lingual preferred.

Other:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects.
  • Recognize & incorporate Instructional Design methodologies used in curriculum development.
  • Requires higher than average computer literacy to include word processing, spreadsheet, db, SharePoint, and software capabilities.
  • Highly effective interpersonal and cross functional group leadership skills as demonstrated by work experience.
  • Above average organizing and task management skills; attention to detail.
  • Incorporate creativity and variety in the development of training materials and content.
  • Aptitude for adapting to change and thinking outside the box, innovative thinker
  • Ability to adapt to changing duties and responsibilities.
  • Normal hearing range sufficient to hear alarms, bells, horns, etc.; normal visual acuity.

This posting is for an existing vacancy within our organization.

Pay range for this opportunity is$62,475.00 - $80,850.00, based on experience and skillset. This position is eligible for bonus participation, subject to the Bonus Plan’s terms and conditions.
