Job description

Reporting to the Manager, Learning and Leadership Development Programs, you will function as a corporate Learning and Development Consultant, managing, creating, and delivering learning opportunities and providing consultation to enhance individual and team competencies. Within our team, our focus areas are general employee capacity building and leadership development. Success is measured by achieving results respectfully, inclusively, and with a service mindset.

Key responsibilities align with the City's Cultural Commitments and include:
  • Learning programs, tools, and supports: Lead a portfolio of corporate learning programs (e.g., professional development, communication, navigating conflict, safety, workplace wellness, equity and inclusion), including needs identification, objective setting, design, development, coordination, delivery, evaluation, and continuous enhancement
  • Learning and development consultation: Partner with clients and subject matter experts to provide strategic advice, guidance, and support in designing and delivering learning solutions, considering operational conditions (e.g., seasonal, dispersed teams, and operational shift schedule). This ranges from job aids for specific skill development to peer learning supports, or organizational learning strategies.
  • E‑Learning development: Work with clients to conceptualize and build E‑Learning courses, videos or other asynchronous learning products
  • Learning facilitation: Facilitate corporate learning sessions and workshops weekly.
  • Perform other related duties

  • Additional course work, training and experience in E‑Learning design
  • Experience using Articulate 360 and Rise is considered an asset
  • Experience facilitating in‑person and virtual sessions is an asset

  • Well developed consulting skills with the ability to understand business requirements and needs and help make recommendations and identify solutions that are relevant and effective (and may point clients to a solution other than training)
  • Ability to build strong relationships within the team, with clients, and across the organization
  • Ability to effectively communicate, influence, and collaborate with a variety of partners and collaborators including senior leaders, employees at all levels, union representatives, and external organizations
  • Ability to work within an integrated HR service delivery and business model
  • Highly developed planning, organizational and project management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including writing and presentation skills
  • Highly developed, agile facilitation skills

Work Environment:
  • This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52
  • The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance

Salary Range: $42.028 - $60.040 (Hourly); $74,042.830 - $105,775.470 (Annually)
