Job description

Join a Challenger

At EQ, we're remaking banking so every Canadian gets ahead, every day. Serving nearly 4 million Canadians from coast to coast, we offer a wide variety of financial services from banking and lending, to trust and credit union solutions.

We've been at this since 1970, challenging the conventions of traditional banking with smarter, faster, and more connected financial experiences.

What's kept us moving? The people behind it all: challengers who ask better questions, push back on old assumptions, and look for a better way forward.

If you're driven to help reshape how banking works for Canadians and the businesses that power our economy, this could be your next big opportunity.

We can’t wait to get to know you!

Program/Role Overview

Our Leadership Development Program(LDP) is designed to accelerate your development through immersive, hands-on experience across key areas of our business. Over 24 months, you’ll rotate through multiple teams, gaining exposure to both the core fundamentals of banking and the strategic innovation that drives our digital future.

If you are entering your final year of undergraduate studies in Fall 2026, this is your opportunity to launch your career in a dynamic, purpose-driven environment and make a meaningful impact as part of our September 2027 cohort.

Why EQB? What’s in it for you?

Being a traditional bank isn’t our thing. We believe Canadians deserve better banking–more human and more inclusive. That’s why we challenge ourselves to rethink what’s possible and deliver smarter, simpler options. Our team is made up of inquisitive and agile minds that find smarter ways of doing things. You’ll gain real exposure to the financial services industry, meaningful autonomy and the chance to collaborate with people who will encourage you to reach new heights.

At EQ, you\'ll gain more than just rotational experience. The Leadership Development Program is designed to accelerate your growth through meaningful work, broad business exposure, and opportunities to learn from experienced leaders across the organization.

You will benefit from:

  • Broad Business Exposure: Build a deeper understanding of banking through rotations across key business lines and functions, helping you develop a well-rounded view of how EQ operates.

  • Hands-On Experience: Contribute to real business priorities, work on meaningful projects, and develop practical skills that create value for the business and our customers.

  • Mentorship & Development: Receive guidance, feedback, and support from leaders, managers, and colleagues throughout your rotational journey.

  • Cross-Functional Networking: Build relationships across teams and business areas while expanding your professional network and understanding of the organization.

  • Future Career Opportunities: Following successful completion of the program, you\'ll have the opportunity to transition into a permanent role aligned with your strengths, interests, and business needs.

What You Will Do?

Year 1: Building the Fundamentals (Months 1–12) – Core Rotations

You'll build a strong foundation in banking through rotations across EQ\'s core businesses, with exposure to both Personal Banking and Commercial Banking. During these rotations, you\'ll gain hands-on experience, develop business acumen, and build an understanding of how different parts of the bank work together to deliver value to customers.

Personal Banking

Gain exposure to EQ\'s digital banking business and customer-focused products and services.

You may have opportunities to:

  • Learn about EQ Bank\'s everyday banking, lending, payment, and digital banking products.

  • Support business initiatives focused on enhancing customer experience and digital banking capabilities.

  • Participate in projects involving product development, process improvement, or business analysis.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic priorities and customer-focused solutions.

Commercial Banking

Develop an understanding of how EQ supports businesses, commercial clients, and institutional partners.

You may have opportunities to:

  • Gain exposure to commercial lending and financing solutions.

  • Learn how commercial banking teams evaluate opportunities and support business growth.

  • Participate in financial analysis, market research, and business development activities.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external partners to support client needs and business objectives.

Year 2: Applying Knowledge to Solve Complex Problems (Months 13–24) – Elective Rotations

Building on the banking fundamentals developed through your core rotations, you\'ll have the opportunity to tailor your experience through elective rotations aligned to your interests, strengths, and career aspirations. Elective rotations may include areas such as:

Digital Banking & Product

Help shape the future of banking through product innovation, customer experience enhancements, market research, and digital transformation initiatives.

Corporate Development & Strategy

Contribute to enterprise-wide initiatives, strategic planning, and business growth opportunities while developing skills in analysis, problem-solving, and executive-level communication.

Risk Management

Develop an understanding of how financial institutions balance growth and innovation with sound risk management through exposure to risk analytics, governance, reporting, and regulatory practices.

Data & Analytics

Leverage data to solve business problems, generate actionable insights, and support decision-making through reporting, analytics, and business intelligence initiatives.

Operations, Marketing & Customer Experience

Support initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness, customer experience, and business performance while working closely with cross-functional teams.

Other Enabling Functions

Gain exposure to the functions that support and enable EQ\'s growth through projects focused on business performance, technology, transformation, and organizational effectiveness.

After 24 months of rotations, following your end-of-program review, you\'ll have the opportunity to transition into a permanent role that aligns with your strengths, interests, and long-term career aspirations.
