Job summary

Interac Corp. is seeking an experienced Leader, Enterprise Compliance in Canada to drive the multi-year compliance strategy, oversee governance, risk and controls, and report on program maturity to the Board.

The role partners with Legal, Privacy, and Information Security, and leads a team to embed strong compliance across the organization. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in regulated environments, strong leadership, and the ability to balance regulatory requirements with business objectives.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Business, Management, Law, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive Enterprise Compliance leadership experience.
  • Experience designing and evolving enterprise compliance frameworks and programs.
  • Strong knowledge of governance, regulatory compliance, risk management, and control frameworks.
  • Experience presenting to senior executives, Boards, and regulatory bodies.
  • Ability to balance regulatory requirements with business objectives and risk appetite.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute Interac’s multi-year enterprise compliance strategy and roadmap.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and industry trends to keep the program future-focused.
  • Advise executive leadership and the Board on program effectiveness, risks, and strategic direction.
  • Lead development and maintenance of enterprise compliance policies, standards, and governance structures.
  • Advance Interac’s GRC program to strengthen consistency and accountability.
  • Ensure regulatory requirements are integrated into business operations and decision-making.
  • Provide independent oversight and lead risk-based assessments and remediation initiatives.
  • Partner with Legal, Privacy, Information Security, Internal Audit, HR, and business leaders to strengthen risk management.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing compliance team and drive awareness and culture.

The Leader, Enterprise Compliance role will report to Rebecca Ma.

What You Will Do:
Enterprise Compliance Strategy & Leadership
  • Developing and executing Interac’s multi-year enterprise compliance strategy and roadmap.
  • Monitoring regulatory developments, emerging risks, and industry trends to ensure the compliance program remains effective and future-focused.
  • Advising executive leadership and the Board on compliance program effectiveness, risks, priorities, and strategic direction.
Governance, Risk & Compliance Enablement
  • Leading the development and maintenance of enterprise compliance policies, standards, frameworks, and governance structures.
  • Supporting and advancing Interac’s Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) program to strengthen consistency and accountability across the organization.
  • Ensuring regulatory requirements are effectively integrated into business operations and decision-making.
Compliance Oversight & Risk Management
  • Providing independent oversight, challenge, and guidance on regulatory and compliance risks.
  • Leading enterprise compliance assessments, gap analyses, and remediation initiatives.
  • Partnering with Legal, Privacy, Information Security, Internal Audit, Human Resources, and business leaders to strengthen risk management and compliance practices.
Culture, Capability & Leadership
  • Building, mentoring, and developing a high-performing compliance team.
  • Driving enterprise-wide compliance awareness, education, and culture initiatives.
  • Ensuring the compliance function maintains the capability and capacity required to meet evolving regulatory expectations.
Executive & Board Reporting
  • Developing and delivering executive and Board-level reporting on compliance risks, program maturity, and strategic initiatives.
  • Leveraging metrics, analytics, key performance indicators, and key risk indicators to support decision-making and organizational transparency.
What You Bring:
  • A university degree in Business, Management, Law, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience leading enterprise compliance, risk management, governance, regulatory affairs, or related functions within a regulated environment.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and evolving enterprise compliance frameworks and programs.
  • Strong knowledge of governance, regulatory compliance, risk management, and control frameworks.
  • Experience presenting to senior executives, Boards of Directors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Exceptional business acumen and the ability to balance regulatory requirements, organizational risk appetite, and business objectives.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and influencing complex enterprise-wide initiatives.
  • Professional designations such as CRM or CPA are considered assets.

What We’re Offering:

The hiring range for this position is $170,000.00 - $190,000.00 , and you will also be eligible for our short-term incentive plan. The exact amount will depend on factors such as skills, experience, and job‑related knowledge, but Interac’s commitment goes beyond compensation.
