Job summary

GE Vernova's Turbine team in Canada seeks a Lead Turbine Design Engineer to drive hydro turbine projects from design through commissioning. You will work in a multidisciplinary, global setting ensuring reliability and performance for major clients.

The role requires 5–10 years in mechanical design, strong materials knowledge, and fluency in French and English; OIQ membership is required. Relocation assistance is not indicated.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Member of the OIQ.
• 5–10 years in mechanical design (turbines, rotating machinery or heavy industry).
• Strong strength of materials and manufacturing process knowledge (welding, machining, inspection).
• Fluency in French and English.
• Unrestricted authorization to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Design Engineering: perform calculations and mechanical design for complex components with reliability and safety in mind.
• Technical Planning: analyze specifications, assess risks, and drive design phases with the hydraulic test lab.
• Design Leadership: lead design reviews and validate draftsmen work to ensure deliverable quality.
• Support & Expertise: be the technical contact for supply chain and site teams; resolve non-conformities.
• Global Collaboration: work with centers of excellence to share best practices and harmonize methods.
• Mentorship: support technical development and guide junior engineers.
