Job summary

Sargent & Lundy in Ontario, Canada seeks a senior transmission design engineer to design 69kV–500kV lines, mentor staff, and coordinate with clients to meet project specs and codes. You will prepare reports, review designs, and work with PLS-CADD in a hybrid role requiring in-office presence three days a week.

Ideal candidates have 12+ years in transmission design, strong standards knowledge (NESC/IEC/IEEE), and experience collaborating with clients on large-scale projects.

Qualifications

• BS degree from a Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board-accredited undergraduate program or a US based ABET-accredited program.
• 12 or more years of transmission design experience.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD software.
• Experience must include preparation of scopes of work, development of conceptual designs, determination of design basis, the selection of equipment and materials, and the preparation and assembling of calculations and specifications.
• Experience working directly with clients on transmission lines from 69kV through 500kV.
• Knowledge of engineering standards including NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE and ANSI.
• Experience reviewing design drawings created by others.
• P.Eng license and PMP certification are valued.
• Construction experience is valued.
• Familiarity with ArcGIS is valued.

Responsibilities may include the following:

• Mentor and train less experienced design team members.
• Coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations will comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements.
• Prepare reports and studies that present technical information in a clear and concise manner and meet client requirements and S&L formats.
• Perform independent reviews of work performed by others including calculations, drawing preparation, and transmission line models based in PLS-CADD.
• Adhere to Sargent & Lundy's System of Processes.

This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and will require in-office work 3 days per week, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days.

Compensation Range

$146,996 - $192,932
