Job description

Job Description
WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

Customer Data Management is RBC’s strategic data capability initiative focused on building a centralized asset to unlock data opportunities across Personal, Business, Distribution, Marketing, and Operations. This role offers the chance to lead enterprise-scale data architecture and integration efforts at a critical growth phase. You’ll shape how RBC delivers advanced data insights through a modern data fabric and mesh architecture while collaborating across multiple squads and business units. This is an opportunity to drive meaningful impact on RBC’s digital transformation strategy and establish architectural governance that will influence the organization for years to come.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of the team’s data powered architecture, including data fabric and data mesh patterns aligned with enterprise standards
  • Partner with squad leads to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions
  • Define solution architecture standards, integration patterns, and technology approaches that balance innovation with governance and security requirements
  • Coordinate cross-functional workstreams to ensure architecture decisions are validated, documented, and communicated across stakeholder groups
  • Manage architectural risks, dependencies, and trade-offs; identify conflicts early and escalate appropriately to leadership
  • Drive the alignment of Customer Data Management architecture with enterprise data strategy, ensuring consistency with RBC’s broader data ecosystem and architectural governance frameworks
  • Collaborate with business partners across P&CB and other LOBs to understand use cases and translate them into architectural blueprints and implementation roadmaps
  • Mentor/consult with other solution architects and technical leads within squads; establish best practices for architecture documentation and design reviews
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?
Must Have
  • 10+ years of experience designing and implementing enterprise data architectures, with hands‑on expertise in data mesh, data fabric, and modern data platform patterns
  • Hands-on experience with RBC’s technology landscape for data and AI (tools (Collibra, IDP) and/or data platforms
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, multi‑workstream programs with competing priorities; proven success translating business strategy into executable technical roadmaps
  • Strong understanding of cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or similar), data integration technologies, and metadata management approaches
  • Excellent communication skills across multiple audiences (technical teams, business stakeholders, C-suite); ability to influence without authority and build consensus across matrix organizations
  • Deep knowledge of financial services industry data architecture requirements, regulatory constraints, and governance frameworks
Nice-to-Have
  • Experience architecting solutions within large, global financial institutions or other complex regulated environments
  • Background in data governance, data quality frameworks, or enterprise data strategy
  • Experience working in agile environments with distributed, multi‑squad delivery models
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?
  • Lead a high‑impact strategic initiative shaping RBC’s data future
  • Work with world‑class data and technology talent across multiple business domains
  • Competitive compensation package with comprehensive total rewards, including bonuses and flexible benefits
  • Executive sponsorship and coaching from senior leadership invested in your growth
  • Opportunities for professional development in emerging data technologies and architectural practices
  • Flexible work arrangements supporting work‑life balance
  • The ability to make lasting impact on how RBC serves its clients through better data insights and capabilities
