Job summary

D-Wave is seeking a Senior Benchmarking Researcher to advance quantum-classical hybrid algorithms and drive performance benchmarking for its quantum computing systems. You will lead experiments, reproduce literature results, and communicate findings to technical teams across industry and academia.

The role requires a Master’s or PhD in a related field, 4+ years in research, and strong Python skills, with C++ exposure as an asset.

Qualifications

• Master’s or PhD in CS, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 4+ years in a full-time research position.
• Proficiency in Python; C++ is an asset.
• Strong foundation in algorithm development with experience in machine learning, Monte Carlo methods, and/or statistical physics.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement novel quantum-classical hybrid algorithms.
• Lead benchmarking, characterization, and performance optimization of our quantum computing systems.
• Reproduce experiments and results from scientific literature.
• Review the latest benchmarks in literature, gauge validity, and communicate findings clearly.
• Design and execute experiments to characterize QPU contribution to different hybrid algorithms.
• Perform in-depth analysis of experimental results over time to identify trends and guide system improvements.
