Job description

We are seeking a Lead Project Engineer to support our Forklift and Telehandler product line. This role is a hands‑on, forward‑thinking engineering leadership position responsible for managing multiple projects from concept through completion, supporting both current products and new product development. Essential Functions
  • Lead full product development cycles from conception through completion utilizing a stage-gate process.
  • Develop and present technical and project updates to executive management.
  • Create and manage detailed project plans using MS Project or similar tools, including resource allocation and schedule distribution.
  • Lead and mentor a team of multi-disciplinary engineers within a cross-functional environment.
  • Support product design and development involving machined components, sheet metal, fabricated weldments, and large assemblies, ensuring clear dimensional schemes that capture engineering intent.
  • Design, develop, and execute testing procedures for off‑road heavy equipment.
  • Manage multi-tiered Bills of Material (BOMs) and support integration with organizational ERP systems.
  • Lead root‑cause analysis efforts, including interpretation of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical schematics.
  • Support quality initiatives such as DFMEA, PPAP, VAVE, and 6S.
  • Interface with vendors and conduct site visits to support quality audits as required.Support Request for Quote (RFQ) processes as needed.
  • Interpret customer contracts and assess impacts to engineering scope, timelines, and cost.
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers, supporting technical growth and professional development.
  • Proven problem‑solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues and develop practical solutions.
  • High attention to detail to ensure accuracy in design, testing, and documentation.

  • Strong technical expertise in heavy equipment and mechanical systems, including industry regulations and safety standards.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical assemblies, including testing experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Familiarity with SAE / ISO specifications for off‑road or heavy equipment.
Required Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • Engineering degree with emphasis in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering.
  • Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) license.
Required Experience
  • 7–10 years of progressive engineering experience.
  • Must be eligible and able to travel to the United States occasionally for business purposes.
Preferred Education And Experience
  • MBA.
  • Experience supporting full‑machine product development in material handling, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, or similar heavy equipment industries.
  • PMP or CAPM (PMI) certification.
