Our Ideal Candidate

As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for the leadership of a team of technologists conducting field and laboratory testing of aggregate, soils, concrete and/or asphalt.

A Day in the Life

The successful candidate will be responsible for communicating test results, both orally and written, and providing technical advice to both internal staff and external clients with regards to soils, concrete and aggregate issues. The individual will also review the procedures of our existing lab and provide support to ensure proper safety guidelines are met. You will also be responsible for performing and recording routine instrument maintenance and calibration of select equipment.

Using your considerable organizational, communication and people skills, you will lead and work with cross-discipline teams to ensure projects are completed within allotted schedules, budgets, and to high quality standards. Mentorship of new and junior employees is also a key part of this role and our organization.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

  • Technical diploma in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Degree with 8+ years of progressive work-related experience
  • Proven experience in geotechnical materials testing, including concrete, asphalt, soil classification, etc.
  • Must have knowledge and experience with related CSA test procedures
  • CCIL and/or CSA certification is considered an asset
  • Experience with use of a nuclear densometer is an asset
  • Experience in a geotechnical laboratory setting is required
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule is required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Technical competence, analytical abilities and attention to detail
