Job summary

Ledcor Highways Ltd. is seeking experienced professionals to support our Foreperson and highway maintenance crews in Alberta. You will operate snowplow trucks, wheel loaders and other heavy equipment while ensuring safety and quality on provincial highways year-round.

Local candidates are preferred and camp and meal allowances are provided for non-local applicants. The role requires supervisory experience, a valid Class 1/2/3 license with air endorsement, and a strong commitment to safety,

Qualifications

  • Supervisory experience in highway maintenance or related field.
  • Valid Class 1/2/3 license with air endorsement and clean 3-year abstract.
  • Snow plow experience preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Safety-focused with ability to work outdoors in all weather.

Responsibilities

  • Operate snowplow trucks, wheel loaders and heavy equipment as required.
  • Maintain Alberta Provincial Highways year-round and assist with Labourer duties.
  • Work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Assist Foreperson with safety meetings, inspections, and reporting.
  • Support planning of work to meet milestones.
  • Monitor quality of work and safety/environment concerns.

Your expertise in heavy equipment operation, organization, and safety-first approach will help ensure the success of our team and the safety of the traveling public. Essential Responsibilities
  • Operate snowplow trucks, wheel loaders, and other heavy equipment as required
  • Maintain Alberta Provincial Highways year-round, including assisting with Labourer duties (crack sealing, pothole repair, bridge and signage cleaning, hazard remediation, etc.)
  • Work outside in all weather conditions
  • Assist leadership with daily tasks including safety toolbox meetings, equipment inspection, and road condition inspection reports
  • Support Foreperson in the planning of work to meet contractual milestones
  • Monitor the quality of work performed by the crew
  • Help ensure health, safety, and environment related concerns are addressed promptly
Qualifications
  • Valid Class 1, 2 or 3 driver’s license with air endorsement and a clear 3-year driver’s abstract
  • Previous supervisory experience in highway maintenance, road construction, bridges or related field is required
  • Snow plow experience is preferred
  • Strong understanding of provincial and/or municipal highway maintenance specifications
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer skills are an asset
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol and audiogram testing
Work Conditions
  • Local candidates will be given preference due to the location of the work
  • Camp and Meal allowance provided for non local candidates (No travel allowance)
  • Will be required to work shifts, on-call, and nights as necessary
  • Benefits provided by CLAC
  • Work will be outdoors in various weather conditions
Rates & Premiums
  • Will be provided a base hourly rate of $33.75/hr
  • Eligible to receive premiums starting at $8/hour, when performing winter maintenance operations
  • Operators will be eligible to receive a premium up to $14/hour when performing winter operations as a Class 1 operator and while operating the tow plow unit
