Job summary

Ledcor Group, through Ledcor Highways Ltd., is seeking experienced highway maintenance professionals to support Foreperson and crews. You will operate heavy equipment safely, help maintain Alberta Provincial Highways year-round, and assist with planning and inspections.

This role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and leadership, with comprehensive training, competitive wages, premiums, and a retirement savings plan. Local candidates preferred; shifts nights and on-call may be required.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class 1/2/3 driver’s license with air endorsement and a clean 3-year abstract.
  • Previous supervisory experience in highway maintenance or related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; computer skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Operate snowplow trucks, wheel loaders, and other heavy equipment as required.
  • Maintain Alberta Provincial Highways year-round, including Labourer duties.
  • Work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Assist leadership with safety toolbox meetings, vehicle and road condition inspections.
  • Support Foreperson in planning work to meet milestones.
  • Monitor quality of work and address safety/environment concerns promptly.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Operate snowplow trucks, wheel loaders, and other heavy equipment as required
  • Maintain Alberta Provincial Highways year-round, including assisting with Labourer duties (crack sealing, pothole repair, bridge and signage cleaning, hazard remediation, etc.)
  • Work outside in all weather conditions
  • Assist leadership with daily tasks including safety toolbox meetings, equipment inspection, and road condition inspection reports
  • Support Foreperson in the planning of work to meet contractual milestones
  • Monitor the quality of work performed by the crew
  • Help ensure health, safety, and environment related concerns are addressed promptly
Qualifications:
  • Valid Class 1, 2 or 3 driver’s license with air endorsement and a clear 3-year driver’s abstract
  • Previous supervisory experience in highway maintenance, road construction, bridges or related field is required
  • Snow plow experience is preferred
  • Strong understanding of provincial and/or municipal highway maintenance specifications
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Computer skills are an asset
  • Successful completion of pre-employment drug and alcohol and audiogram testing
Work Conditions:
  • Local candidates will be given preference due to the location of the work
  • Will be required to work shifts, on-call, and nights as necessary
  • Benefits provided by CLAC
  • Work will be outdoors in various weather conditions
Rates & Premiums:
  • Will be provided a base hourly rate of $33.75/hr
  • Eligible to receive premiums starting at $8/hour, when performing winter maintenance operations
  • Operators will be eligible to receive a premium up to $14/hour when performing winter operations as a Class 1 operator and while operating the tow plow unit
