THE ROLE
STRIVE is partnering with a reputable and well-established company in the search for a Heavy Equipment Technician – Lead Hand .
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technician to take on a leadership role within a busy, team-oriented shop. The Lead Hand will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of construction equipment including earthmoving, aerial, and compact machinery, while also mentoring apprentices and coordinating daily shop activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain various types of heavy equipment, including earthmoving, aerial, and compact construction machinery
- Perform testing and inspections to ensure proper equipment performance and reliability
- Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and on-the-job training to apprentices and junior technicians
- Coordinate daily workflow and parts ordering with the Branch Manager and Service Coordinator
- Lead complex and challenging repairs as the senior technician in the shop
- Maintain detailed and accurate service records, logs, and documentation
- Uphold safety, quality, and compliance standards in all work performed
- Foster a positive, collaborative team environment focused on efficiency and continuous improvement
- Assist with occasional field service calls as required
REQUIREMENTS
- 6 years of hands‑on mechanical experience with heavy construction equipment
- Red Seal / Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician License (421A or 310T)
- Previous leadership, mentorship, or supervisory experience is an asset
- Strong proficiency with diagnostic tools, computer applications, and repair technology
- Solid knowledge of diesel and gas engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems
- Valid G-Class driver’s license with a clean or satisfactory abstract
- Must supply own tools
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced environment and manage shifting priorities
- Commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous learning
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
