Job summary

Compass Group Canada is seeking a Food Service Supervisor to assist the Manager on duty in coordinating associates across the food service department while upholding high standards of guest service. The role includes supervising multiple units, staffing, hiring and training, and maintaining safety and quality programs.

The ideal candidate has at least one year in food service management, Food Safe Level 1, strong health and safety knowledge, and solid communication skills.

Qualifications

• At least one year of strong operation food industry management experience.
• Food Safe Level 1 Certification.
• Comprehensive health and safety knowledge and training.
• Knowledge of food service catering.
• Strong supervisory skills and the capability to motivate and lead staff.
• Employee relations experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Manager on duty with coordinating activities of associates within the food service department.
• Assist Shift Managers to supervise multiple food service units.
• Supervise production of menu items, ensure cash readings, manage associates, schedule staff, hire and train employees.
• Learn from and assist the Shift Manager to resolve labour relation issues; track and report weekly inventories, sales revenue, labour and food cost.
• Communicate positively and enthusiastically to café patrons and address issues promptly.
• Ensure compliance with Compass’ Quality Assurance and Health & Safety Program, Occupational Health and Safety Act and WHMIS regulations.
• Coordinate workplace inspections and WHMIS training of all staff; report any accident to head office.
• Ensure HACCP standards are followed in the food preparation process.
