Job summary

Wealthsimple, Canada's leading financial innovator, is seeking a Manager of Software Development for Financial Risk to lead the team that detects and responds to fraud. This hands-on leadership role will set the roadmap and contribute in code when needed.

You will bridge engineering, product, compliance, fraud countermeasures, and data science to ensure aligned risk decisions. You’ll build a capable team, navigate tough trade-offs, and shape how AI tools support incident response and code

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading engineering teams with hands-on ability
• Comfort making high-stakes trade-offs with imperfect information
• Strong record of partnering with product, compliance, data science

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the technical roadmap for the Financial Risk Engineering team
• Act as the connective layer between engineering, product, compliance, fraud countermeasures, and data science
• Stay hands-on: contribute to architecture decisions and unblock the team
• Build and grow a team capable in ambiguous risk domains
• Collaborate with data science to translate fraud signals into systems
• Help shape AI tool usage across the team from incident investigation to code review
