Qualifications

  • 6+ years of experience in software development in related technologies with increasing responsibilities and complexity.
  • 1+ year in team lead or similar capacity.
  • Expert in programming languages and frameworks such as Hadoop, Apache Spark, Python, Java, Hive.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker.
  • Demonstrated strong team leadership and ability in written and oral communication.

Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC’s Technology and Operations division. GFT’s impact is far-reaching as we collaborate with partners from across the company to deliver innovative and transformative IT solutions. Our clients represent Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. We also lead the development of digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration.

Guided by the principles of “Know Your Data, Govern Your Data, and Use Your Data,” our team is focused on the design, development and deployment of capabilities that enable governance and trust in enterprise data. Additionally, we onboard and integrate data tooling solutions to support the Chief Data Office (CDO). You will work with all stakeholders to design best in class technology solutions.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Design and implement scalable data pipelines to support ingestion, transformation, and delivery of clean, analysis-ready data to the centralized platform.
  • Coordinate, develop, lead, communicate and execute activities collaborating with peers across the GFT & CDO / SDMO data intelligence solution offering on Metadata management to deliver end-to-end capability ensuring objectives are accomplished according to requirements, plan, and schedule.
  • Reviewing and recommending policies and procedures for collecting and managing organization data.
  • Contribute to the integration and configuration of enterprise data tools supporting the CDO (e.g., data catalogs, lineage tools, quality monitoring).
  • Drive continuous improvement by leveraging industry best practices in data management, agile delivery, and change management.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have:

  • 6+ years of experience in software development in related technologies with increasing responsibilities and complexity. 1+ year in team lead or similar capacity with full end-to-end ownership in delivering a project.
  • Expert in programming languages and frameworks such as Hadoop, Apache Spark, Python, Java, Hive.
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift (OCP), Docker, and containerized application deployment. Exposure to DevOps practices and tools for CI/CD pipelines.
  • This is a lead role - Demonstrated strong team leadership and ability in written and oral communication skills, along with strong presentation skills. Ability to determine the information and communication needs of the stakeholders and project.
  • Positive attitude, open communication, teamwork, and commitment to deliver successful results.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data services.
  • Knowledge of data governance and security practices
  • Frontend and backend engineering, test driven development, microservices and architecture design principles.
  • Prior experience in the Financial Industry
