Job summary

GHD is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to deliver complex electrical engineering solutions for water and wastewater infrastructure.

Based in Vancouver, Calgary, or Edmonton, you will lead the design, analysis, and execution of electrical systems, including medium- and low-voltage power distribution, motor control, standby power, instrumentation and controls, lighting, communications, security, and life safety systems.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of electrical consulting and design experience in industrial projects; water/wastewater experience preferred.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with P.Eng designation in BC or Alberta.
• Expertise in low- and medium-voltage systems, including switchgear, transformers, MCCs, VFDs, protection, and power distribution.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership, establish electrical engineering standards, and mentor junior and intermediate staff.
• Lead complex electrical projects through all phases, managing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk.
• Act as the primary technical contact for clients, leading workshops, meetings, and presenting design solutions.
• Support business development through client relationship management, proposal preparation, and fee development.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate with clients, utilities, contractors, vendors, and regulatory authorities.
• Direct the design and review of low- and medium-voltage power distribution systems, including switchgear, transformers, MCCs, and VFDs.
• Lead electrical system studies, including protection and coordination, arc flash, short circuit, and power system analysis.
• Oversee electrical calculations, technical reviews, quality control, and professional sealing of engineering documents.
• Support tendering and construction through RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, site inspections, testing plans, and change order evaluations.
• Ensure compliance with Canadian electrical codes, industry standards, and best practices while driving technical excellence across the electrical discipline.

The salary range for this position is $112,448 - $187,413.
