Job summary

Insight Global is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to join a major bank in Toronto on a contract basis. The role blends data engineering with security risk and analysis tasks, overseeing design, development, and maintenance of enterprise data projects.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of proven experience as a Data Engineer.
• Proficient in T-SQL, PySpark, Mapping Dataflow and Python programming language.
• Data governance framework knowledge.
• Hands-on experience with Azure data services including Azure Data Factory, Data Lake, Function App, Logic App, Azure SQL Database, Azure Synapse Analytics, mapping dataflow, and Event Hub.
• Experience with Denodo for data virtualization.
• Experience with data modeling.
• Experience in working with structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of enterprise data engineering projects.
• Provide leadership to a team of data engineers and ensure efficient data flow, storage, and integration.

This role is a hybrid between a typical data engineer and supporting security risk and analysis related activities. The success candidate will oversee the design, development, and maintenance of the enterprise dataengineering projects. This role will provide leadership to a team of data engineers, collaborating with stakeholders, and ensuring the efficient flow, storage, and integration of data across the organization. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge and experience with Medallion Architecture,Microsoft Fabric (Workspaces, Lakehouses, Warehouses, Pyspark Notebooks), Azure Data Factory, AzureData Lake, Azure Function App, Logic App, REST APIs, Mapping Dataflow, and Event Hub, and will employthe best practices in data engineering.
