Job description

GHD is looking for a Senior Track Engineer to join our team in the GTA. As the Senior Track Engineer, you will lead internal designers and engineers, organize the technical team to complete the tasks, manage input and design coordination between disciplines, control the design path, solve problems, and hold responsibility for the track design in achieving the final result. This role can be based in any of our GTA offices – Toronto, Mississauga, Markham or Whitby. The workplace thrives on a hybrid model, combining in‑office collaboration and flexibility; you will be expected to work from office three days a week.

Responsibilities

• Lead track design for engineering projects in accordance with client requirements and codes and standards (Metrolinx, TTC, AREMA).
• Ensure all requirements including specifications and standards are integrated into the project.
• Ensure quality control processes are being followed.
• Provide support to business development and strategic initiatives, including preparation of proposals, developing design workflows and best practices.
• Develop and mentor staff.
• Partner with the Project Manager on the budget and schedule on a regular basis while identifying gaps and providing solutions to achieving the scope.
• Partner closely with the Rail and Transit Business Lead, Project Directors and Design Manager on all project functions.
• Serve as liaison between the site and engineering disciplines during construction and be responsible for the review of shop drawings.
• Represent GHD at client meetings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s (B.Sc.) degree or equivalent.
• Professional Engineer licensed to practice in the Province of Ontario.
• 15–20 years of experience in similar or related disciplines.
• Demonstrable experience in the development and design of rail and transit track in a 3D environment, including complex alignments, junctions, turnouts and crossovers.
• Detailed understanding of Canadian Rail Codes and Standards, including AREMA, CN, CPKC, and Metrolinx Track Standards.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Team building and mentoring skills.

Salary range: $125,000–$175,000. The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for GHD locations in its major city centres. Ranges may vary for positions in other locations. Base salary is determined by skills, experience, qualifications and work location.
