Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance.
  • Complete vehicle inspections and identify mechanical concerns.
  • Diagnose drivability and electrical concerns as required.
  • Perform brake, suspension, steering, and related repairs.
  • Complete pre- and post-repair inspections.
  • Assist with technical problem-solving and difficult repairs.
  • Perform four-wheel alignments using alignment equipment.
  • Perform static and dynamic ADAS calibrations.
  • Assist with automotive glass replacement following OEM procedures.

Job description

1. JOB PURPOSE:

As a member of Fix Auto’s production team, the Lead Automotive Technician plays a key role in the delivery of high quality product and superior service.

We are looking for an experienced Journeyperson Automotive Technician who wants to become the go-to technical expert in our shop and be an integral part of our shop’s growth.

This is not your typical technician position. We are looking for someone who enjoys variety, solving problems, learning new skills, and being involved in different areas of the automotive repair process.

2. POSITION SUMMARY:

As the Lead Automotive Technician, you will play an important role in supporting our body repair operation and helping us expand our in-house capabilities. Your day-to-day work will include a combination of mechanical repairs, wheel alignments, ADAS calibrations, automotive glass, diagnostics, quality control, and technical support.

You will also have the opportunity to develop specialized skills and become highly proficient in areas outside of traditional mechanical repair.

3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mechanical & Diagnostic
  • Perform mechanical repairs and maintenance
  • Complete vehicle inspections and identify mechanical concerns
  • Diagnose drivability and electrical concerns as required
  • Perform brake, suspension, steering, and other related repairs
  • Complete pre- and post-repair inspections
  • Support body technicians with mechanical-related aspects of collision repairs
  • Assist with technical problem-solving and difficult repairs
Wheel Alignments
  • Perform four-wheel alignments using alignment equipment
  • Identify suspension, steering, and alignment-related concerns
  • Complete alignment checks following collision repairs
  • Make necessary adjustments and communicate additional repair requirements
ADAS Calibrations
  • Perform static and dynamic ADAS calibrations
  • Set up calibration equipment and ensure vehicles are positioned correctly
  • Follow OEM procedures and calibration requirements
  • Verify calibration results and document completed work
  • Assist with troubleshooting calibration-related issues
  • Continue developing expertise in emerging vehicle technology and ADAS systems
Automotive Glass
  • Assist with and perform automotive glass replacement
  • Ensure proper installation procedures are followed
  • Ensure glass-related repairs meet OEM and safety requirements
Lead Technician Responsibilities
  • Act as the technical resource and go-to person for the shop
  • Maintain a high standard of workmanship and quality control
  • Help train and mentor apprentices and developing technicians
  • Assist with technical research and OEM repair procedures
  • Help identify opportunities to improve shop efficiency and processes
  • Ensure tools, equipment, and work areas are maintained properly
  • Stay current with new automotive technology, repair methods, and equipment
4. WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Employees may be required to work in potentially hazardous environments requiring personal protective equipment
  • Employees may be exposed to dust, hazardous chemicals and high levels of noise
  • Employees may be exposed to uncomfortable work settings; may have long combinations of standing, crouching, or sitting
  • Repetitive tasks within a fast-paced environment
  • Overtime as required
5. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
EDUCATION

Completion of technical training in a related field

Journeyman Certificate

WHMIS Certificate

EXPERIENCE

Minimum of 3 years working as an automotive technician in a manufacturing setting, or a related field

Experience working with a high performing, collaborative team

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE

Ability to work independently

Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing and read and interpret blueprints

Must be able to carry and move equipment and/or supplies in excess of 25 pounds
