Role: Experienced Law Clerk / Paralegal / Legal Assistant

Term: Full-Time, Permanent

Reports to: Principal Lawyer & Operations Manager

Location: Onsite – Yorkville, Toronto

Seniority Level: Intermediate to Senior

This role is ideal for a professional who enjoys responsibility, structure, and precision — someone who wants to grow into a Senior Clerk, Legal Operations, or Practice Management role over time.

🧩 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Law Clerk / Paralegal Duties

  • Assist lawyers in preparing legal materials including Motions, Applications, Statements of Claim/Defence, Affidavits, Factums, and Briefs
  • Conduct legal research and compile supporting materials
  • Prepare and maintain Affidavits of Documents, Undertakings, and Discovery materials
  • Schedule conferences, hearings, and examinations with the courts and opposing counsel
  • File court documents (in-person and electronically) and serve materials in accordance with Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Maintain organized digital and physical files, following firm policy and naming conventions
  • Track court deadlines, undertakings, and limitation periods

Legal Assistant / Administrative Duties

  • Draft correspondence, coordinate client communications, and manage follow-ups
  • Handle phone calls, scheduling, and day-to-day operational tasks
  • Support the Principal and Associate Lawyers with case coordination
  • Assist the Office Manager with client intake and administrative tasks as required
  • Perform document management: scanning, binding, photocopying, and organizing files
  • Maintain case management systems (Cosmolex, Clio, or similar)

  • University Degree (asset but not required)

  • Excellent drafting, proofreading, and document organization skills
  • Strong interpersonal and client communication skills
  • Familiarity with litigation timelines, filing systems, and court portals
💰 COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
  • Salary Range: $55,000 – $90,000/year (commensurate with experience and performance)
