Law Clerk - Insurance Defence

Toronto, ON

Permanent Hybrid work arrangement - 3 days remote / 2 days in office

A well established Insurance Defence law firm located in the core of downtown Toronto, a five minute walk to Union Station, is in need of an Insurance Defence Law Clerk to join its team.

Experience working with both Tort and AB claims is required. The successful candidate must have insurance defence litigation experience in order to be considered.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • 3-7 years of experience is required!
  • Responsible for the maintenance of document briefs and files
  • Preparation and completion of file summaries
  • Review and preparation of files for mediations and discoveries
  • Preparation of motion materials
  • Drafting of pleadings
  • Experience with trials and arbitrations (summons, witnesses, preparation of notices of intention and requests to admit, preparation of trial briefs)
  • Responsible for the follow-up of undertakings
The successful candidate will have:

Excellent organizational, drafting and communication skills

Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Keen attention to detail

Knowledge of Statutory Accident Benefit schedule and LAT

Working knowledge of the Rules of Civil procedure
