Overview

Law Clerk – Civil Litigation and Family Law

Our client is a highly respected Canadian downtown Toronto boutique law firm. They are currently seeking a Law Clerk with 3+ years experience in Civil Litigation and Family Law.

Responsibilities
  • Drafting documents, including pleadings, orders, briefs, conformations, and other court documents, correspondence, and other legal documents preparing files/documents for meetings, service and filing with the court.
  • Intake including communicating with Potential New Firm Clients and Firm lawyers as well as maintaining contact and positive rapport with clients.
  • Schedule meetings, conference calls and work with lawyers in management of calendars and deadlines.
  • Mediation, Arbitration and Trial preparation.
  • Keep informed on court notices, new polices, Rules and legislation, and providing updated communications to lawyers.
  • Prepare books of authority, affidavits, financial statements, NFP statements, DivorceMate calculations, disclosure briefs.
Qualifications
  • Team player in a dynamic environment; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational skills, high attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for dealing with clients, lawyers and professionals.
  • Solid knowledge of the Family Law Rules and the Rules of Civil Procedure, including filing deadlines.
  • Experience with MS Office; knowledge of PC Law and DivorceMate.
