Job description

The Company

Sonele develops and manufactures medical devices within an ISO 13485 & FDA-registered facility and is also a leading ultrasound OEM manufacturer specializing in high-performance transducers. Our expertise spans all stages of product-to-market, giving us a unique ability to get necessary technologies into consumer hands. Sonele's ultrasound division designs and manufactures medical and industrial transducers offering significant advantages in performance and reliability. We are located near Highway 407 and Woodbine Ave in Markham, ON.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a full-time Laser / Photonics Technician to support our Transducer Manufacturing team. This role is responsible for the fabrication, assembly, and testing of transducers and related assemblies using laser and metallization equipment, precision measuring tools, and microscopic assembly techniques.

We are ideally looking for someone with a photonics background, but candidates with a strong mechanical/machining foundation — CNC operation, machining, hands‑on troubleshooting, and equipment maintenance — are equally encouraged to apply. This is a hands‑on, equipment‑focused role suited to someone mechanically inclined who is comfortable working with precision instruments in a lab/manufacturing environment.

Health benefits with premiums fully paid by the company are provided after the probation period. Free on-site parking is available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, test, assemble, and characterize high-frequency arrays and ultrasound scanning mechanisms following established procedures

  • Operate and become proficient with laser machining and sputtering/metallization equipment

  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC and precision machining equipment used in fabrication and assembly

  • Perform assembly and inspection duties using microscopes, micro‑dispensers, and other precision equipment

  • Track and maintain inventory of materials required for array production

  • Evaluate and contribute to improving current assembly and manufacturing procedures

  • Assist in the maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of equipment used on the fabrication and assembly lines

  • Inform management promptly of deviations from documented manufacturing processes

  • Keep management informed on the status of the array manufacturing process

  • Work staggered hours/shifts as required, including occasional weekend work and overtime

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or management
