Landfill Scale Operator

Location: Kentville, NS B4N 3V7 (on site).

Salary: $48,289 to $57,185 per year (subject to negotiation). Hours: 40 hours per week. Employment Type: Permanent full time.

Shifts: Early morning, Morning, Day, Evening, Weekend, Overtime available. Start: As soon as possible.

Overview

Responsible for maintaining landfill operations, including cleaning, sorting, piling materials and operating forklifts. Must work in a noisy, dusty, and temperature-variable environment and handle up to 23 kg (50 lbs) of material.

Responsibilities

• Clean and maintain work space.
• Move, sort and pile materials and products.
• Perform general labouring duties.
• Operate forklift.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Secondary school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
• Bondable.
• Valid driver’s licence (driver’s validity licence check required).
• Criminal record check.
• Computerized recording equipment knowledge.
• Experience with snow removal is an asset.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks, attention to detail, hand‑eye coordination, and work in fast‑paced environment.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, bend, crouch, kneel, and lift up to 23 kg.
• Excellent oral communication, efficient interpersonal skills, and teamwork.
